Our Mission
The mission of the Dalit Society Welfare Committee Nepal (DSWCN) is to champion the rights and dignity of marginalized communities, with a particular focus on Dalits, women, children, and other vulnerable groups. Our organization is driven by the conviction that every individual, regardless of their social, economic, or cultural background, should have the opportunity to live a life of dignity, free from discrimination and deprivation.
At the heart of our mission is the protection and promotion of human rights. We are committed to creating an environment where the fundamental rights of all individuals, especially those from marginalized and disadvantaged communities, are recognized, respected, and fulfilled. Our work spans a broad spectrum of areas, including education, health, livelihood, social justice, and governance, each contributing to the overall empowerment of these communities.
We believe that true empowerment comes from within the communities themselves. Therefore, our approach is deeply participatory, engaging local people in every step of the development process. By building the capacities of these communities, we help them become active participants in their own development, enabling them to advocate for their rights and make informed decisions about their future.
One of the core aspects of our mission is to address systemic inequalities that keep marginalized communities trapped in poverty and exclusion. We work to dismantle these barriers by promoting inclusive and equitable development practices. This involves not only advocating for policy changes at the local and national levels but also implementing grassroots programs that directly benefit the people we serve.
Education is a crucial part of our mission. We aim to ensure that every child, particularly those from marginalized communities, has access to quality education. We believe that education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and enabling individuals to realize their full potential.
Healthcare is another critical area of our work. We strive to ensure that marginalized communities have access to essential healthcare services, including reproductive health, sanitation, and safe drinking water. We are particularly focused on addressing the health disparities faced by women and children, who are often the most vulnerable in these communities.
Our mission also extends to promoting good governance and social accountability. We work to strengthen the capacities of local government institutions and ensure that they are responsive to the needs of the people, especially those from marginalized communities. By fostering transparency and accountability, we help create a more just and equitable society.
In all our efforts, we are guided by the principles of non-discrimination, respect for local culture, and a deep belief in the power of collective action. Our mission is not just to provide immediate relief but to create lasting change by addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice. Through our work, we aspire to build a society where every individual, particularly those from marginalized communities, can lead a life of dignity, security, and opportunity.
