From Margins to Mainstream, Together We Rise

Helping each other can make world better

We are dedicated to ensuring the empowerment and life improvement of Dalits, ethnic communities, and pro-poor groups, particularly women and children, by integrating them into the mainstream of development. Our mission is to enable these marginalized communities to fulfill their basic needs through their efforts, initiation, and participation.

About DSWCN

The Dalit Society Welfare Committee Nepal (DSWCN) stands as a leading advocate for the rights and empowerment of marginalized communities in Nepal, particularly focusing on Dalits, women, children, and other disadvantaged groups. Founded in 2058 B.S., DSWCN has grown into a nationally recognized organization, working tirelessly to address social injustices and promote inclusive development across multiple districts, including Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Sarlahi, Saptari, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, and Sindhuli.

Our primary mission is to create an equitable society where all individuals, regardless of their caste, gender, or socioeconomic status, can enjoy their rights fully and without discrimination. To achieve this, DSWCN engages in a broad range of activities, including human rights advocacy, education, health, livelihood enhancement, and environmental conservation. We focus on strengthening the capacities of marginalized communities to advocate for their rights, ensuring their active participation in local governance and development processes.

DSWCN’s work is deeply rooted in the principles of non-discrimination, respect for local culture, and the belief in the power of collective action. We collaborate closely with local government bodies, community-based organizations, and international partners to implement sustainable development projects that address the root causes of poverty and inequality. Our initiatives include improving access to quality education, healthcare, and sanitation; promoting good governance and social accountability; and supporting economic empowerment through livelihood programs.

The organization is governed by a diverse and committed board, and our team comprises professionals with extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation, social mobilization, education, and human rights. We also maintain a robust volunteer network, which plays a crucial role in our grassroots initiatives.

Over the years, DSWCN has earned a reputation for its transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in addressing the needs of Nepal’s most vulnerable populations. Our strong alliances with government agencies, media, and other stakeholders have further enhanced our ability to influence policy and drive meaningful change. Through our continued efforts, we aspire to build a society where every individual, particularly those from marginalized communities, can lead a life of dignity, security, and opportunity.
